A club for the next Grayson County
Sherman, Denison, Van Alstyne, Whitesboro, Howe, Pottsboro, Bells, Tom Bean, Gunter, Collinsville, Whitewright — the whole county, and the people in it who are still early in their lives and already serious about it.
Mission
Why we exist
Grayson County is growing fast. Highway 75 is being rebuilt, subdivisions are going in on land that grew wheat five years ago, and the decisions that set the next thirty years — water, roads, schools, taxes, land use — are being made right now, in rooms most people under forty have never walked into.
The Grayson County Young Republicans exist to put young conservatives in those rooms. We meet, we learn the county, we do the unglamorous work that campaigns and county government actually run on, and we build the bench of people who will run this place next.
We are a club, not a campaign. We are a place to start, not a place to sit.
What we believe
Plainly stated
We are Republicans. We believe in limited government, low taxes, secure borders, free enterprise, personal responsibility, and the right of a community to govern itself without being managed from a long way away.
Beyond that, the club's positions are the members' positions. We are new, and the resolutions and priorities we adopt will be adopted by the people who show up — not written in advance by whoever built the website.
Straight answer
This club is brand new. Officers, dues, bylaws and a meeting schedule are all in front of us, not behind us. Everything on this site that has not been decided yet says so.
Who we are
Ages 18 to 40, Grayson County
The age
Membership is open to conservatives aged 18 through 40. That is the Young Republican standard, and it is the room we are building: people early enough in life to be shaped by this work and old enough to carry it.
The place
Grayson County — live here, work here, study here at Austin College or Grayson College, or you are here often enough that the county's decisions land on you. If Sherman and Denison are your towns, this is your club.
The people
Trades, teachers, nurses, students, small-business owners, young families, people two years out of the service. No political résumé required. Nobody here started with one.
Affiliation
Where we stand with the state organization
We are organizing to affiliate with the Young Republicans of Texas. Affiliation is a process — a founding membership, elected officers, adopted bylaws, and a charter granted by the state organization — and we are working through it in that order.
Until that charter is granted, we will not claim it. When it is, this page will say so with the date.
We are an independent club. We are not the Grayson County Republican Party, and we do not speak for it or for any campaign.
